rail
If you are British, or even if you have ever been to Britain, you probably know that British Rail (their equivalent of Amtrak) is pretty much the butt of jokes, complaints, and ridicule. They have a nasty reputation for being consistently late, incompetent etc, etc. Now I realize it has been a while since I lived in the UK, so maybe things have changed a bit since then... on the other hand....
Today I booked a couple of train tickets for when Tara and I are in England. We need to get from London to Coventry. Ok, no problem. One way trip for two is £17. Fair enough. Ahh... but we need to get back too. Lets make that a return. Oh wait, the total has jumped to £65. Why would a single return ticket be double the price of two single directions?!? Needless to say I chose the 17-there-17-back approach. My thoughts on British Rail are validated....
In related news, my passport is finally on its way back to me (according to the British Embassy). I wasn't worried....
