Just in case there is anyone out there who still thinks that polygraphs work, here is an interesting story about an illegal immigrant, spy, and Hizbullah supporter, that managed to land a job as not only an FBI Special Agent, but also later a CIA clandestine officer. Bear in mind that both of these positions require a top-secret security clearance, an extensive background check, and a polygraph examination. It's unfortunate that cases like this will probably do nothing to dislodge the prevailing view that polygraphs are a valid and useful tool for pre-employment investigation. As with many aspects of security process, whether it's silly shoe inspections at the airport or surveillance cameras on city streets, this money could be better spent.
